About the Event

A Rewilding Gathering for Women

(this is the new official event for the postponed august gathering)

This is an invitation for women to come and connect with other Women in the Wild!

Come and spend some time rejuvenating in the Xanthorrhoea rich bushland while learning ancestral living skills shared by Women.

We are all about empowering other women to feel confident in the bush and exploring new capabilities here at Wild Beings... We want to provide other women with hands on experiences that deepen connection with the land and develop relationship with the abundance all around us while getting in touch with our primal roots.

Who are Wild Beings?

We are an organisation based on the East Coast who run a range of Nature Connection events and promote a more "back to basics" lifestyle. We value the Earth that holds us and provides for us and are passionate about creating positive change through nature based experiences. We support regenerative culture that builds a sense of belonging and connection to self and the land.

This Gathering is a 3 day camp out.

Offerings :

Fire by friction

Interested in making fire the Ancient way with nothing but what the land around you provides? Learn traditional fire by friction techniques using materials the facilitators have foraged and prepared. Every woman will get their own hand drill fire kit to take home.

Weaving

Not too long ago, Women would use their hands all throughout the day to make different practical creations for every day living. We have evolved using our hands and being creative, only in recent times have we lost touch with our innate sense of creativity. Weaving is a beautiful and meditative pathway to reconnect with what is already within us as Women, our Creativity. We will be offering various methods of weaving that have been passed onto our facilitators by many teachers. Using plant fibres the facilitators have locally foraged and prepared. You will take home your very own woven creation.

 Leather education and demonstration

Why Leather? The facilitators all have a passion for natural tanning and learning the ancient science of turning hides to leather the chemical free natural way. It is a way of life shared by the women in traditional living cultures. We believe there is deep connection formed when participating in this process and making ones own clothing from hides that you have tanned yourself. The facilitators will be showing the hides that they have tanned and speaking about the process of hide tanning, also demonstrating sewing buckskin, speaking about the different primitive sewing methods and what hides can be used for. There will be no actual hide tanning at this workshop because it requires a few days.

Bone and Bark jewellery

There are creative pieces all around in nature awaiting for your eyes to catch them and your hands to pick them up and turn them into beautiful co creations. We will be sharing the creations we have made from bones and bark and other gifts from the earth with the intention to inspire the creator within and give you an opportunity to create your own jewellery.

Harp healing

We will have an opportunity to float deep into the forest within as the very gifted Harpist and Music Therapist Kim Cannan shares with us her Sonic Healing Workshop. Throughout this workshop Kim will speak about the healing ways of sound and frequency and how they impact our bodies. She will then take the participants on a precious sound journey with her voice and Harp..

Wild Foraging

There are edible and medicinal plants every where we go, we have just lost touch with this knowledge. We will be using various wild greens for salads and teas throughout the weekend and by the end of the weekend you will know at least 5 edible or medicinal plants you can find nearby your home!

Spoon carving

One of our facilitator's, Emma from Forestsoul Wildcraft will be offering a spoon carving workshop where you will learn how to whittle your own spoon! She will provide the wood. All participants are asked to BYO whittling knives and axe if you have one, Emma will provide some whittling kits that can be used and purchased.

Vegetarian Dinner will be provided both nights, please bring your own snacks/breakfast/lunch. Contact us with any special allergies or dietaries. There is a communal outdoor kitchen

We encourage each participant to bring food that doesn't have to be refrigerated.

There are toilets on sight.

Accomodation Options  BYO Tent or Van, plenty of flat space for setting up close by or nestled in the Gums. Limited Bell Tent accommodation.

Cost $390 (limited volunteer tickets available, get in touch)

Location  The gathering will take place at the fully off-grid property in Wisemans Ferry called "The Grove"

There is no phone reception on the property (just the way we like it!) We will send out a pin drop of the location and some directions.

All materials that have been foraged for this gathering have been done so in a respectful and conscious manner, never taking more than what is needed.

We acknowledge the Land that we gather on is Darkinjung and Darug Land and has been Home for thousands of years to the Original People of these lands. We wish to honour that knowledge that has been lost.

We are very excited to be sharing what we love with other women in a stunning location

Come and join us!
