About the Event

Join us for a day of Rewilding at the beautiful Black Barn Permaculture Farm in Stanley, Victoria.

A day of learning various land-based living skills that bring us into deeper relationship with our local ecology and our land-based ancestry.

For the longest of time, humans lived primarily off the land as a part of the land.

We find immense value in re-learning the skills that were (and still are in some parts of the earth) practised by all of our hunter-gatherer ancestors all across the earth, as these are the skills that literally shaped us to be the humans we are today. We find a deep sense of connection and relationship is gained when delving into these skills, remembering our place amongst ecology.

Throughout this day workshop, we will be teaching:

-  Introduction to Rewilding, What is it, how can we apply to it to our lives.

-  Honouring the whole animal & Traditional tanning methods. We will discuss these topics whilst handing around various animal crafts we have made & speak about the process.

-  How to make fire by friction, using only what the earth provides and your hands. A hands-on workshop on making fire by friction using the hand-drill method. You will learn about various materials that are good for making fire and how to harvest ethically.

-  Foraging wild foods and medicines. Learn how to identify various wild plants and use them for food and medicine.

-  Learn how to make a wild plant medicine balm with all natural ingredients that we will forage. You will get to take home the balm!

This will be a jam packed day full of knowledge on how we can live closer to the land, emphasising on building relationship with local ecology.

About the facilitators.

Wild Beings Australia is a nature-based community co-founded by Eva & Will. They run overnight family bush camps in NSW delving into Rewilding, re-creating the village structure & emphasising on outside living and ancestral skills. Eva and Will have spent the most part of the last 5 years living outside, learning these various ancestral living skills and using them in every-day life. Having only eaten wild game meat for the last 5 years, they have really delved into wild game scavenging, butchering, bone tools, rendering fat, naturally tanning the skins into useable leather & crafting useful items from the leather they make. With a strong passion for learning the skills of our ancestors, they have dedicated their lives to sharing what they have learnt with others and building a lifestyle around regenerative choices.

They see the value in sharing these practical earth skills that re-connect, especially in a time of such disconnect.

About Black Barn Farm.

Black Barn Farm is a biodiverse orchard, tree nursery and learning space that offers pick your own berries, heritage apple tree sales and a series of homesteading workshops and school tours. Join Jade and Charlie on their journey of regenerative orcharding, living simply, following the seasons & beating to the drum of their small town. Jade also runs Futuresteading which is a podcast, book and movement for living today like tomorrow matters.

We pay our deepest respect to the Aboriginal Land we will be gathering on,  Dhudhuroa, Waywurru and Pallanganmiddang country. We wish to honour the timeless wisdom of this ancient culture that still exists within the birds, the trees, the stone and the waters.
